Hey there. This site was suggested to me at my local box. I've been crossfitting for 5 months and still have quite a ways to go in my own physical goals, but am excited to be pregnant! 8 weeks along now, dead tired all the time and only a little sick in the mornings. Love my obgyn but she is not a fan of lifting weights, saying that it redirects blood away from the fetus to the large muscle groups that are doing the work. Now I'm a little nervous to get back in the gym and modify all over the place. Tomorrow's workout is deadlifts, kettlebell swings and situps. Do I just not even go? It's not like I can hang out on a rower the whole time. Guess I gotta talk to a coach about this. Advice gratefully accepted!

Hello, I'm 9 weeks pregnant, and have been crossfitting for 18 months, and am still doing most things at CF with more or less the same weight, but less intensity. If you haven't been crossfitting long, you might consider taking your DLs down in weight and consider the same for your KBs. According to this website and lots of other literature, it's still okay to do sit ups and other stuff on your back in the first trimester, but just see how you go. I've been taking mini-breaks during WODs (especially met cons) more than usual, trying to catch my breath, and checking in with my body to make sure it all feels okay.

In the first trimester, you can still continue with most exercises. Since you are fairly new to CF, I would suggest kettlebell deadlifts and one-armed kettlebell swings. That way, you won't do too much, but still get in a good workout. :D Sit ups are ok up until about 16 to 20 weeks, depending on belly size.
