Hi mamas,

A question for you: what are the best maternity jean options for those of us with generous, muscle-y thighs and booties (gotta love all those squats)?!

Everything I've tried either is too tight in the quads, or slides right off my bum as soon as I bend/sit/chase my 2 year old around. For giggles I even tried to try some designer maternity jeans, since lots of people say that designer jeans fit sooo much better...well, I couldn't even get the legs past my mid-thighs. I had this problem pre-pregnancy too, but at least there were more options to pick from.

Oh, the curse of the Crossfit bum! :)

Honestly, the pants I have that work the best for me are from Motherhood Maternity. BUT, no matter what pants you get, they're going to eventually slide down and you're going to have to re-adjust them. I feel like half my life now is spent re-adjusting my clothes after I go pee.

I recently bought some maternity leggings (Target) and I have no idea why I held off on buying these for so long. I love them. So, for chasing kiddos around the house, they could be perfect. You could even pair them with a dress or long tunic type shirt to wear out if you know you're going to be moving around a lot.

I also have 2 BeeBands (Target, but you can get variations of them everywhere). They're elasticky bands that slide over the tops of your pants to help keep them in place so you can wear them unbuttoned. I'm still wearing my non-maternity pants and jeans with a BeeBand comfortably at 24 weeks. Again, you will have to re-adjust at some point, but being able to wear my pre-pregnancy pants has been a lifesaver.
I would invest in some of these before you do anything else to see how many pairs of pre-pregnancy pants you can still fit into before you invest in other maternity pants.

I have a big crossfit butt and thighs, too, and it is ALWAYS a problem for jeans. The best ones I found are Silver jeans from A Pea in the Pod. They were expensive, even on sale, but I have worn them a lot. I also got some "long and lean" jeans from Gap maternity. They fit, but not as well (they're a bit tight in the thighs, which causes them to fall down faster).

My favorite pregnant pants are Fusion pants from Athleta. They aren't maternity, but they fit really well and I just push the front under my belly. They were also expensive, but I wear them tons and I think they'll last a long time. Of course, they aren't good for every occasion since they're really workout pants, but at least they have pockets on the back.
