hi Ladies,

First I want to say what an inspiration all you woman are, it's awesome to see a supportive community such as this. My wife and I are about 8 weeks along right now. Our doctor just prescribed Lovenox (a blood thinner) because of a bad pulmonary embolism she suffered a few years back. We knew the prescription was going to come eventually and of course we asked about exercise but we still have some concerns. Has anyone else had to deal with taking lovenox during pregnancy and crossfitting? I already asked my wife to avoid HSPU because of the risk of coming down on her head too hard, but beyond that I'm not sure what else to be cautious about. I'm not the type to be overly protective, and I WANT her to continue crossfitting, since we started it's been so good to us.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm currently taking enoxaprin (generic for lovenox, one injection a day). Any pregnant woman needs to avoid inversions- handstands, or handstand push-ups. When you invert, it can compress her vena cava (major artery) and restrict blood flow and oxygen to the baby. I've also been reading that, in general, towards the second trimester, to avoid full sit-ups and any exercises lying on the back. I am currently 5 months and still doing sit-ups- I'm not very big. Other general rules of thumbs: whatever she feels comfortable doing. If she did it before pregnancy, she should be fine during pregnancy. The only thing about a blood thinner is she might and probably will bruise much easier. It is natural to have a decrease in cardiovascular function, so if she gets light headed or dizzy, sit down and take a break- that's not really an effect of the lovenox- however it can play a small role. She also shouldn't be lifting extremely heavy- I am not lifting any where close to my maxes. Eventually, she will have to quit jumping rope or doing box jumps (I currently jump up on the box and then step down and I still run- just not as far or nearly as fast as I was before). Just have her (and you) focus on staying healthy and strong during her pregnancy and not on increase fitness goals. Good luck!

Hello Ladies!
boy am i glad i found this post!! I'm 16w4d! I have been on Lovenox since doing fertility treatments also. I sm hoping since you ladies are further along then me if you can tell me better injection areas for the shots? i was initially giving them to myself in the belly below the belly button but have been running out of places, due to soreness, swelling and bruising. i saw that we can do them up and down the belly line to the outer sides? i have so many veins running through my stomach that i can see, that it has become a maze to try to find a good spot. i'm mostly concerned with when my belly starts to get bigger where is a safe place to inject? I'm afraid of injecting into my uterus? i know that might sound silly, but i'm an older first time Mom and noone i know has any experience with the shots. i was like a pincushion during fertility treatments and my belly was so sore, esp doing burpees. I've welcomed the scaling options where i don't have to lay my stomach down against anything. I really would appreciate any and all guidance you can give me! thank you, this is my first time registered with the board and posting as well!! i love this place! those mommy/baby app boards are horrendous!! so glad i found you all!! <3 <3 <3 :D :D :D
