I'm 15 weeks pregnant and have been crossfitting for almost a year now. I typically workout 4-5 times per week. I usually do the WODs that are provided on this website and occasionally do the WOD that everyone else at my box is doing if I am able. I always do the advanced WOD and feel that 65# is still fine for me because I'm used to doing a lot more than that. Today I did my box's WOD which was a 15 minute AMRAP of 300m row, 15 thrusters(55#), and 10 knees to elbows. I took my time and only did 4 rounds. A girl at the gym mentioned to me that I should not be lifting that much weight while pregnant. She said it could cut off the baby's circulation. I explained to her that I never do anything that's not comfortable for me and I always take plenty of breaks and break up my reps. I typically don't lift anything more than 65# since that's what is usually on the advanced WOD. Should I be lifting lighter weight now that I'm in my 2nd trimester or am I ok to continue to lift 65#?

I am 32 wks pregnant and found that while people were supportive of my activity level, I got others that were overly concerned and judgemental. I think it is all about how you feel in regards to the weight, everyone is different and has come from a different history of working out. I found it difficult to scale my workouts as I felt fine during them, not working any harder than normal, but later realized that MAYBE I should have taken it a bit easier and making a mental note for next time. Personally I have kept my weight up for upper body but found that heavier weights for lower body started bothering my back. Good luck, I have attributed a great pregnancy (so far) primarily to my fitness level!

If you are doing the Advanced WODs, #55 is absolutely fine. No offense to the gal but she obviously doesn't about CrossFitting while pregnant. Not lifting weights is an old school attitude. :D You just keep doing what you're doing. If she comments again, tell her this is an OB recommended site and you're following it for safety.
