I've tried to search the forum, but haven't found much on this topic. I am 14 weeks pregnant with #2 and have been crossfitting for about 2 years. I was comfortable with continuing crossfit when I found out I was pregnant. Most of the literature and medical advice supports a sensible approach to fitness and progressive scaling to stay healthy. When I found out I was pregnant with twins a couple of weeks ago, I started reading up on higher order pregnancies and found that the range of opinions on fitness are even more wide ranging because of the higher risk factor. I have also been unable to find any trainers at my local box who have coached anyone who was pregnant with multiples. So I specifically asked my doctor if he knew what crossfit was (he did) and what his thoughts were on continuing crossfit. He basically told me that he recommended lower impact (walking/running) exercise throughout the pregnancy, but that I could continue crossfit at as low of an impact level as possible until 20 weeks. After 20 weeks, he didn't say I HAD to stop, but he said that the risk of pre-term labor is significantly higher with a multiples pregnancy and they become very concerned.

So...my question is have you (Andrea) had experience coaching women who were pregnant with twins or has anyone else on the forum had any experience with a multiples pregnancy and crossfit/general exercise?

I have only dealt with this twice in person, and both times it went exactly like your Doc said. At about 20 weeks, it became swimming, walking, ring rows, DB presses and slow squats. You'll have to see what works for you, but these things are practically zero intensity/impact and worked for quite a while. You have to do whatever keeps those little ones in there as long as possible! :) Hopefully some of the ladies will share...
