i have been doing crossfit since early july....i found out i was pregnant at the end of july.....since then i have been going back and forth between the advanced crossfitmom WOD and the WOD on my regular gym site depending on how i feel. i must say that as my blood volume increases i get pretty short of breath and my HR increases pretty quick. i always try to rest between sets so that my HR decreases a little bit before i start the next set.....is this necessary? i know in the 'old days' they used to say keep you HR below 140 but most of the recommendations are just based on nothing since no one wants to do a randomized double blind study on pregnant women for obvious ethical reasons. any thoughts on this? i can't carry on a conversation when i'm doing a crossfit workout which is why i try to rest in between sets. is this good enough? i'm rambling.....

Hi Jessica. To be safe, don't worry as much about the heart rate as conversation. You should be able to carry on a conversation while you are working out. If you find you can't, rest a little and then continue. It's important to not let the intensity get too high. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Good luck!

Hi,

I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 1st. Very excited!

Have been continuing to train however am experiencing some light-headedness at the cool down stage.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Kat (UK)

Hi Kat. That would indicate that you may be a little dehydrated or you pushed a little hard. Try slowing the pace down a little and make sure you get enough water. Let me know if that doesn't help.
