 Post subject: Shin splints

HI, I have been crossfitting for over a year and 25 weeks with my 2nd child. Lately I have been getting very sore shins/calves (basically all throughout my leg from teh knee to ankle) from jumping and running. The exercise itself does not feel uncomfortable to me but afterwards I will get sore. Any suggestions of what I could try to ease this pain before just dropping out of the movements that are causing this?

I don't have any suggestions, but I can commiserate. I had to drop barefoot running at around 27 weeks or so because my calves were so tight I couldn't handle it. I've talked to other moms-to-be who said they had the same problem. Leg and calf cramps are more common in pregnancy to begin with. For me, nothing helped but cutting out the movement entirely. :( I still do single unders to get some calf work in and while I'm a little sore the next day, it's nothing like it was when I was running.
