Hello. My name is Carly I'm 27 this is my second child first with crossfit. I've been doing crossfit for a year now and I am currently 22 weeks along. I'm so happy I came across this website because my doctor has told me again and again to stop and it's not due to anything being wrong with me or the baby we are both actually doing great. I believe my doctor is fearfull of what she doesn't know and she doesn't know anything about crossfit or paleo. The trainers at my gym have been so great to me and helped me modify all the work outs. I guess my questions would be should I continue to do my gyms wod or should I start to follow the wod from here. They would be fine with me doing either one I just should know exactly what I need to modify.

It really depends on your comfort level. If you feel you can scale the WODs at your gym safely, continue to do them. If you want to do the CF Mom WOD, do it, or mix and match. Do the ones you are comfortable with at your gym, and do one from here if you know the other is not safe for you. :)

Carly,

Your situation is similar to mine! I have this exact issue with my doctor as well, he says to walk and swim but not CrossFit. I feel so guilty going behind his back but I feel so great after the WOD and I am not struggling through the workouts at all. He too is afraid of what might happen, not what is happening. I am going with the rule about keeping my body temperature down and really paying attention to my heart rate. On a prenatal aerobics video I saw the last time I was pregnant it said that during the exercise you should be able to talk or sing. I am only 16 weeks but so far the only shifts I have made is that I row instead of run my warm ups and I have dropped my weights a bit. I hadn't even thought about just doing the WOD from this site. Maybe that is a good idea.

My gym had been really really good about changes things for me and letting me do as much or as little as I feel like I can do. I'm drying between 50 & 80% of my pr. But I do like the deadlift ing with a kb instead of a bar. I asked my doctor to please look up what crossfit is all about and what paleo is and gave her a few sites and I will e giving er this site to look at as well just do se can be better informed about what imdoinh and realize its not an issue as long as I modify it. I don't feel too bad because my husband is behind me 100% and if my doctor really gives me too much crap I'll just move on till I find a doctor that will allow me to do it without all the guilt. I love crossfit and I never want to stop and I want to prove to everyone that it's an amazing way of life and it actually is good for everyone at any stage of fitness no matter what's going on with your body.
