Hello my name is Dee and i just found out today that i am pregnant!! Totally nervous and excited at the same time!

I was told by a girlfriend who i told today that i need to stop crossfit...of course they don't do crossfit. They said that i should not allow my heart rate get to high....????

I understand that the first trimester is crucial...I have been crossfitting for 2 years and 5 days a week...i go heavy and hard everytime.
I am also paleo....Will that have to change as well?? I am 100% Paleo about 80% of the time.

How much scaling will i need to do? I have been crazy today reading all kinds of research articles on crossfit and pregnancy and none of them say i need to stop, but that i will have to be in tune with my body.

Do you have any recommendations? Suggestions? I know i am full of questions, and apologize.

I don't want to stop crossfit, but will do what i have to for the little one to be safe. ;)

There is no reason to stop! :D That's what this site is for. You need to keep working out, just a little slower and a little safer. Don't worry so much about heart rate, as your breathing. As long as you can carry on a conversation while you are working out, you are in the safe zone for intensity. Because you have been doing this for 2 years, you will need to scale less than others, but you still need to watch the intensity. For the first trimester, you will be able to do most of what you have been doing. Take the intensity down a notch, stay off the GHD, don't go up in weight, try for PRs, max efforts or high rep sets. Otherwise, keep moving. As for Paleo, there is no better way to feed your baby. Do it as much and as long as you can. There will probably be cravings and aversions, but they go away. Stick as closely to it as you can, and that baby is starting life programmed to be leaner, fitter and smarter than his/her peers.

Congrats Crossfitjunkie!
You sound a lot like me when I found out I was preg LOL... I was going 6 times a week and running 3 times a week, with yoga 2-3 times a week! After about 5 weeks, I had less energy so I haven't done too many two a days since. I am almost into the second trimester now.

I am like you when I work out and want to go hard and give it everything I have all the time... so I was a little nervous when I got pregnant that I would have trouble easing up. But the craziest thing is that I didn't have a hard time at all adjusting- I knew it wasn't worth risking the health of the baby and I could still get a good workout without pushing myself over the edge. Hopefully you can do this too- and you'll notice your body's changing so you will get winded so much faster and your heart rates gets up there much quicker. What's really helped me is that I remember I am not doing this to set any records, but to maintain what I have:)

Best of luck and can't wait to hear about your journey!
